Corners will lose the matte finish in just a few months and bottom corners on my silicone XS case is peeling to the point where there’s only hard plastic. I’d recommend getting the leather variant if you don’t mind fewer color options, quality is better.
Apple is really good about replacing the silicone cases if you call their customer support line. I was told that “Apple is well aware that there are issues with the Series 12 silicone cases and the rapid deterioration of the silicone coating.” They will send you a new one without the need of an RMA.

That is surprising. I have used alcohol and Lysol wipes on (Apple and non-Apple) silicone cases before without this being an issue. I did have an Apple silicone (MagSafe) case two years ago but I found it started to fall apart in less than 3 months. Pretty disappointing so I went with a third party replacement.
