I have compared the test chart pictures over at the-digital-review.com, for all three lenses. It seems that the 14-35mm beats both the 16 and the 24-105 - at 16, 24 and 28mm. The 24-105 seems better at 35mm. Pro's: + Smaller and lighter than the 24-105, so could be more comfortable to carry on camera. + Seems sharper than the 24-105 all the way
Canon RF 24-105 f4L barrel wobbly. May 31, 2020. 2. Hey all, I just recently got a used Canon RF 24-105 f4L. The lens is great, focus is awesome and it's very sharp. It is a little bigger than I expected since i had used the old 24-105 f4L version one, but overall I love the lens. One thing I have noticed about my copy is that the extending

Having shot both the 24-70 f/2.8 II and the 24-105 f/4 IS, I tend to think that more photographers will like the flexibility of the 24-105. The chief potential advantages of the 24-70 are the somewhat better image quality and the one-stop larger aperture.
A major complaint of the Canon 24-105mm f/4 was the edge sharpness. Let’s be honest, it’s just bad even at what are normally considered rock-solid, sweet spot apertures of f/5.6 through f/8.
The autofocus on the Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM is overall pretty solid. It’s better than with adapted lenses and manages to be very fast. Any problems that occurred have to do with the EOS R
The Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM can't quite maintain this level of resolution at the edges of the frame. It's very good in the middle of the zoom range, at around 50-100mm, but pretty poor at 24mm and even worse at 240mm, where the edge softness is visible to the naked eye. Interestingly, stopping down doesn't help here either.
Jan 8, 2019. Good morning. At a crossroads on lens choice specifically between the Canon 24-105 f/4 L (Mark I) and the Canon 24-105 f/3.5-5.6 STM. What I'm most interested to learn are the differences between the image stabilization and low light handling of the two lenses. Primarily the lens would be used for low light event photography.
Moving onto aperture, the 24-240mm has a variable aperture of f4-6.3 which only works at the maximum f4 up to 27mm, where it closes to f4.5 until 44mm, then to f5 up to 70mm, f5.6 up to 109mm, then to the minimum of f6.3 between 109 and 240mm. The aperture is controlled electronically at fine ⅛ stops for movies.
